The Small Grants Program (SGP) of the Global Environment Fund (GEF), along with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Impact Hub Caracas, will develop the first edition of Innovation Eco, an incubation program for eco-social innovation ventures. It will be an online event, seeking to bring together Venezuelan entrepreneurs with the intention of training them and generating sustainable business opportunities focused in biodiversity.

The initiative is designed to have a duration of 5 months. And it will empower participants in topics such as promoting new lifestyles, protecting ecosystems and generating income through ecological and sustainable practices. During this time, participants will have access to mentoring and workshops on specific topics to improve their ventures.

The program aims to contribute to the promotion of self-employment, fair employment, productive and quality employment, which favors the insertion of women and men from different regions in the country, who work on initiatives to preserve the environment with the support of the Small Grants Program.

Innovation Eco will held a final event or eco-business fair, where entrepreneurs will have the chance to present their products or eco-products, in order to grow commercialization and further develop this phase.

Candidates can submit applications from January 11th to February 5th, 2021, at https://caracas.impacthub.net/innovation-eco/.

Caracas.- 26 de noviembre de 2019.- Por tercer año consecutivo, Impact Hub Caracas en alianza con la organización Technovation, ejecutará el programa Technovation Girls Venezuela, cuya misión es incentivar a niñas entre 14 y 18 años de edad, provenientes de comunidades vulnerables de Caracas, en el campo del emprendimiento tecnológico, a través del desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles.

Technovation Girls, es la competencia global de emprendimiento tecnológico para niñas más grande del mundo pues funciona en más de 100 países y les ofrece la oportunidad de aprender las habilidades necesarias para surgir como emprendedoras, empresarias y líderes tecnológicas.

Durante 14 semanas, las niñas recibirán clases de codificación, plan de negocios y presentación de proyectos para mostrar finalmente su aplicación móvil ante un jurado local en nuestro Regional Pitch. Además contarán con el acompañamiento de mentores, quienes de manera voluntaria y gratuita, guiarán a las jóvenes en el proceso de encontrar un problema en su comunidad, desarrollar una aplicación móvil y un plan de negocios que ayude a solucionarlo de manera innovadora, mientras trabajan en equipo y en comunicación con diferentes audiencias.

El objetivo del programa es acercar a más jóvenes mujeres a la tecnología para que en un futuro cercano se motiven a estudiar carreras en STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) acortando las brechas existentes, especialmente en ciencias de la computación. Queremos formar líderes a través de la tecnología, y contribuir a alcanzar la equidad de género.

El programa iniciará el próximo mes de diciembre de 2019 y finalizará en abril de 2020. Los equipos deberán presentar sus propuestas ante un jurado local, y de resultar seleccionados, tendrán la oportunidad de viajar a San Francisco, California para participar en la competencia global (World Pitch) donde se escogerá a su vez al equipo ganador de la edición Technovation Girls 2020.
